Research Project

With two or three partners select one of the topics below. These are very broad topics; together – you as a group with me – we will focus on a particular problem and question and devise a strategy for investigation. At a couple of points during the term, groups will present their research, evidence and findings. Each member of the group will also write an individual 10-page paper.

At the end of this project you will be able to:

• Describe the important characteristics of the problem
• Explain the project in the context of world politics
• Find and evaluate appropriate evidence related to your question
• Explain the questions that you explored and the conclusions you reached
• Relate this project, and your explanation, to theoretical ideas about world politics
• Write an effective paper dealing with this topic and your group’s exploration
• Work with partners to develop effective strategies for research and presentation of the problem and your answers

Topics

• The war in Iraq • Global terrorism • World food crisis • Global climate change • Human rights • Poverty and economic development • The United Nations
