Students may take a 2-credit dance course or private instruction in music in addition to four regular academic courses without a course overload fee as long as the total number of credits does not exceed 19.5. However, there is a fee of $550 per semester for private instruction in voice or an instrument. (See pp.117 in the Pine Manor Catalog for 2007-2009.)
Students who wish a reduced academic load may consider 3 regular academic courses plus one 2-credit dance course or one 2-credit music course (or private instruction in an instrument or voice for an extra fee). If they wish to receive 16 credits by the end of the semester, but wish a reduced academic load, they might consider 3 academic courses plus two 2-credit dance courses or two 2-credit music courses or one 2-credit dance course and one 2-credit music course for a total of at least 16 credits.
Students who take a 2-credit course in private instruction in piano, voice, or an instrument must satisfactorily complete a second semester of private instruction in order to obtain credit for the first semester. (See p. 117 in the Pine Manor Catalog for 2007-2009)
A pair of related 2-credit courses shall be considered for degree requirements as a 4-credit unit upon completion of the second course. (See pp. 117 in the Pine Manor Catalog for 2007-2009.)
