Opera con Brio is an opera-education program, now in its 28th year, conducted by Richard B. Beams, past recipient of NEH Fellowships in both Opera and Literature and Verdi Studies, and past pre-opera lecturer for The Boston Lyric Opera. Classes include lectures, discussions, and recorded musical examples. They demand no technical skills in music although they provide opportunities for those with such skill to pursue related projects on their own. College credit is available upon request and for an additional fee. With permission from Richard Beams, Pine Manor students may elect an Opera con Brio course as a 4-credit Directed Study.
