Courtney Wallace and Nicole Vocaturo named to 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Region Team

Chestnut Hill, MA 5/8/07- Congratulations to Courtney Wallace and Nicole Vocaturo who were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Northeast Region All American team today. 

 Wallace, a freshman from Steep Falls, ME was selected as the second team catcher for the Northeast Region.  Only one catcher is chosen for each team, meaning Courtney was voted the second best catcher in the Northeast Region.  In total only 16 catchers from across the country are named to the All Region teams.  Wallace is ranked in the top ten in the country in three offensive statistical categories.  She is fifth in the country in batting average (.509), sixth in the country in slugging percentage (.935), and  seventh in the country in RBI's per game (1.42).

            Vocaturo, a sophomore pitcher from Bellmore, NY was selected to the third team as an At Large selection.  Taking over the reins as the Gators number one pitcher Nicole was nothing short of dominating.  She collected a 14-7 record with 7 shutouts, one of which was against Emerson College, who was the GNAC tournament champion and will be playing in the NCAA tournament this weekend.  Vocaturo, is ranked 24th in the country in ERA (1.21), 40th in the country in strikeouts per seven innings (7.4), and 50th in the country in victories (14).
