Soccer gets first victory of the season

Pine Manor Gators ran the field Tuesday afternoon, kicking their way to
victory and shutting out the Nighthawks of Newbury College 2-0 in an
intense, thriller of a game resulting in the Gators first win of the
season.
Taking to the field after a scoreless first half,
the Gators turned up the heat on the Nighthawks. With 11 minutes
on the clock,
Liz
Castle (Milford, NH), fired a kick with perfect
placement, scoring her and the teams first of two goals in
the game. The Gators showed exceptional teamwork in the second half.
Goalie
Meagan Sage (Clarksburg, MA) with 4 saves on the
afternoon, slipped coming out of the goal, only to be backed up by Stephanie
Ludwig (Henniker, NH), who came flying out of nowhere to
make a dazzling save, cementing the gators shutout. The game
wasn't over for the Gators though. Liz
Castle charged down the right side of the field with two
seconds left and scored the final goal that ended the game.
Congratulations to the team and Coach Kinsella on a
big win!!
The Gators will head into Boston this Thursday,
October 17th to take on Emmanuel College. The game is scheduled to
start at 6:30 p.m.
