Cadets trip up the Gators

Northfield, VT - The Cadets led by as many as 19 points as they won their third straight contest with an 81-67 win over the Gators in GNAC action at Andrews Hall. Norwich improves to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Pine Manor drops to 2-12 in all games played and 0-2 in the conference.
The game was close early on as the score was tied at 10 with 13:47 remaining in the first half. Norwich then built a 10-point lead on an 11-1 run. Pine Manor cut the lead down to four points by outscoring NU, 8-2. The Cadets moved back to a double-digit lead with a 14-6 spurt before leading 41-33 at the half.
In the second half, the Gators could only get as close as six points off a pair of free throws by Angelica Camacho with less than a minute gone by. At the 14:05 mark, Pine Manor's Laura Cecil logged a layup to cut the NU lead to 54-45, but it was the last single-digit lead of the game as Norwich went on to the 19-point advantage and the win.
Three Norwich players posted double-figure scoring. Caitlin Bailey led the way with 15 points, while Sarah Chap and Natalie Marchese each scored 11 points, which was a season high for Marchese. As a team, the Cadets finished with 24 assists.
Pine Manor also had three players finish in double figures. Nicole Doras logged a team-high 14 points, while Natalie Russell and Amanda Dennis scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Gators will resume play on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. GNAC encounter at Suffolk.
