Soccer gets first victory of the season

Women's Soccer 10/16/07

Chestnut Hill ,MA-The Pine Manor Gators ran the field Tuesday afternoon, kicking their way to victory and shutting out the Nighthawks of Newbury College 2-0 in an intense, thriller of a game resulting in the Gators first win of the season.

Taking to the field after a scoreless first half, the Gators turned up the heat on the Nighthawks.  With 11 minutes on the clock, Liz Castle (Milford, NH), fired a kick with perfect placement, scoring her and the teams first of two goals in the game.  The Gators showed exceptional teamwork in the second half.  Goalie Meagan Sage (Clarksburg, MA) with 4 saves on the afternoon, slipped coming out of the goal, only to be backed up by Stephanie Ludwig (Henniker, NH), who came flying out of nowhere to make a dazzling save, cementing the gators shutout.  The game wasn't over for the Gators though.  Liz Castle charged down the right side of the field with two seconds left and scored the final goal that ended the game.

Congratulations to the team and Coach Kinsella on a big win!!

The Gators will head into Boston this Thursday, October 17th to take on Emmanuel College.  The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
